Interesting take, Alexander... but isn't the main controversy with this ad around the "good jeans" narrative being a take on "good genes" and the implication that she has genetic superiority? Would love to read your analysis and acknowledgment of that disturbing component of this ad campaign.
Thank you Emma! As with any sufficiently juice piece of online drama these days this one evolved too fast for me to round out everything. When I was typing this the 'good genes' part of the saga wasn't yet in full motion, and that too does warrant its own post. We harbor an immense amount of mistrust and rightful skepticism towards anything related to the topic of genes and superiority, and I'll see if we couldn't find a way of finding some useful lenses to reflect on this!
